OPENINGS:

Recreational Management Intern

Hours: 20-40 hours per week, days, evenings, and some weekends

Applicant must have availability on weekends and around some holidays.

Looking for an exceptional opportunity to learn the behind-the-scenes operations, as well as the day-to-day programming of an internationally recognized, recreation-based, non-profit? Gain experience in a wide range of office and administrative tasks. Assist staff with archery, air rifle, outdoor education, and bowhunting programs, as well as facility management, memberships, marketing, and other organizational functions. 

 

The National Field Archery Association (NFAA) is a non-profit corporation dedicated to the sport of archery. The NFAA holds archery competitions throughout the country each year and services over 15,000 members nationwide. The NFAA Headquarters is located at the NFAA Easton Yankton Archery Center (NEYAC) in Yankton, SD.  NEYAC is situated on over 130 acres of recreational space and hosts a wide range of archery and non-archery events and programs each year. Most notably, NEYAC hosted the 2021 Hyundai World Archery Championships.

 

Responsibilities may include but are not limited to:

  • Assist with youth, adult, corporate, & parks & rec programs and events. 

  • Assist with range setup for archery and air rifle events and programs.

  • Assist with non-archery event setup and preparation. 

  • Provide customer service to incoming guests.

  • Marketing and membership projects.​

  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications:

  • Must have good communication skills, written and verbal.

  • Mac/Apple efficient; including knowledge of Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.

  • Quality customer service skills and proper phone etiquette.

  • Knowledge or experience with archery, air rifle, bow hunting, and/or outdoor sports is a plus.

  • Non-traditional work hours, including some nights, weekends, and holidays.

  • Must pass a background check.

Front Desk/Lobby Assistant

Hours: Part-time, mostly weeknights and weekend hours, 3-8 hour shifts

Applicant must have availability on weekends and around some holidays.

Pay: $13/hour

Core Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Meet and greet customers in a professional manner

  • Answer Phones

  • Become familiar with Archery Center operations and programs

  • Assist in record keeping of archery and non-archery activities.

  • Check-in members and visitors utilizing registration software.

  • Ring up sales of programs, services, and merchandise using Point of Sale (POS) software

  • Assist NEYAC staff with day-to-day operations including event set up, daily maintenance of facilities, inventory management and aiding as needed in events hosted at the facility

  • Maintain a professional working relationship with other staff

  • Maintain good attendance

Prefer the following knowledge, skills, and abilities:

  • Strong customer service

  • Works well with children, adults, and special needs persons in a public environment on a daily basis

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to work with POS software and have general knowledge of daily office operations and equipment

  • Familiarity with basic archery equipment repairs preferred, or willing to learn (company will train)

  • Ability and willingness to earn a USA Archery Level 1 or above archery instructor certification (company will train)

  • Ability to work in a commercial range environment with multiple archery disciplines, air rifle ranges, outdoor ranges, interacting with clubs and various organizations.

  • The ability to obtain and maintain clearance to work with children is a mandatory and essential component of this position and continued employment

  • Willingness to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays

  • Able to work in an English-speaking environment

  • Have a valid driver's license

  • Maintain good attendance and a professional appearance
